Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)

Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS), previously known as ECO+, is a new government program designed to enhance energy efficiency and lower energy bills through property insulation. Launched at the end of 2023, the scheme will provide funding for eligible households until March 2026. It offers full funding for individual insulation measures, such as wall insulation, loft insulation, room-in-roof insulation, flat roof insulation, room thermostats, and heating controls.
The Great British Insulation Scheme is managed by Ofgem. Its primary goal is to improve the energy efficiency of the UK’s least efficient properties, thereby significantly reducing energy bills and addressing fuel poverty. This scheme complements the ECO4 Scheme, which emphasises a ‘whole house’ approach by prioritising comprehensive insulation over heating systems to minimise heat loss. In contrast, the Great British Insulation Scheme focuses solely on funding single measures.
