ECO4 Scheme
ECO4 Scheme
The UK government’s ECO4 Scheme helps households improve energy efficiency by reducing heat loss and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Energy companies are required to invest in UK homes to make them more energy-efficient. The scheme aims to lower fuel poverty and improve energy ratings for existing properties. In partnership with the Energy Saving Trust, this program has been helping thousands of households for years.
The ECO4 Grant Scheme supports whole-house improvements. To qualify, you need to receive one of the eligible benefits and have an energy assessment report showing your home meets the scheme’s criteria. Grants are available for homes with an energy rating of D or below. Even if you already have an EPC, a free assessment is still needed. Applicants must also provide their last three months of energy bills and other documents as proof.

GBI Scheme
Great British Insulation Scheme
The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS), previously known as ECO+, is a new government program aimed at improving property insulation to save energy and reduce energy bills. Launched at the end of 2023, the scheme will offer funding for eligible households until March 2026. It covers the full cost of insulation measures such as wall, loft, room-in-roof, flat roof insulation, room thermostats, and heating controls.
The GBIS is managed by Ofgem. Its main goal is to improve the least energy-efficient homes in the UK, helping reduce energy bills and fight fuel poverty. While the GBIS focuses only on single insulation measures, the ECO4 Scheme takes a broader “whole house” approach, prioritizing insulation to reduce heat loss before focusing on heating systems.
